The purpose of the Fatherhood Program is to encourage and support responsible fathering, increase fathers' understanding of the importance of being involved with their children, and give fathers positive direction in their involvement with their children.

Small groups of fathers have begun meeting to become more knowledgeable in a wide variety of areas, including how to support and encourage their children's learning and love of literacy.  Currently a group of fathers and father-figures meets once a month early in the morning at each of the centers.

In addition to supporting their children's learning, fathers also are encouraged to do whatever is needed to put themselves in the best possible position to support their children. Areas of focus include job exploration, remaining in school, and returning to school or training.

For more information, call 334-821-8336 and ask for the Fatherhood Specialist.
