Insurance renewal is coming up in May (May 1, 2022) for ACHR. Health Insurance across the board has been going up in price. We are fortunate that comparatively ours has been relatively low and our coverage is pretty good; however, our BCBS plan is increasing as again this year again.
Please read the following information about the two proposed options and complete the survey by March 22nd.
A) Renew Blue Cross Blue Shield and supplemental Med Plus (continue with what we have now).
The advantages –
1) copays (out of pocket cost every time you go to MD) will remain the same: $30
2) With the Med Plus secondary insurance, you have a $0 deductible.
The disadvantages –
1) Premiums (what you pay out of your pay check) will be higher.
Premiums increase with Option A:
For individual (12 month)-increase of $31.16 per pay check (Total per pay check – $47.13)
For Individual (9 month) -increase of $41.55 per pay check (Total per pay check – $62.84)
For individual + spouse/children/family (12 month)-increase of $59.96 per pay check
For Individual + spouse/children/family (9 month) -increase of $79.95 per pay check
2) copays (out of pocket cost every time you go to MD) will remain the same: $30
B) Alternative BCBS Plan (switch to a new BCBS plan)
The advantage –
1) Premiums will still go up but not as much as option A.
Premiums increase with Option B:
For individual (12 month)-increase of $24.16 per pay check (Total per pay check – $40.13)
For Individual (9 month) -increase of $32.22 per pay check (Total per pay check – $53.51)
For individual + spouse/children/family (12 month)-increase of $46.79 per pay check
For Individual + spouse/children/family (9 month) -increase of $62.39 per pay check
The Disadvantages-
1) The copays will increase to $40 for Primary Dr. and $65 for specialist and mental health services.
2) Pharmacy will change to “pay on service” (client pays for entire medicine when they receive it) and receipt must be submitted to BCBS to be reimbursed 80% of cost.
**These rates are calculated for 9 month and 12 month employees. The exact amount that employees pay out of their paychecks depends on the number of weeks or pay periods that the employee works**
We care about your opinion and want to make the best possible choice for our employees. Please for your preferred option.
